The Mindful Nest – Family

When it comes to managing all there is to handle in a busy life, we can often forget the most important things of all. I saw this quote on Just a Girl and Her Blog about raising children and I think it will change my life:

“Remember, you are not managing an inconvenience; you are raising a human being.”

-Kittie Franz

I have such a huge responsibility to these two wonderful little people I helped bring into the world. And when it comes down to it, it doesn’t really matter if their closets are organized or if their shirts are perfectly clean. What matters is that I help to raise them with love, respect, manners and laughter.

  1. Very true and we all need to remind ourselves of this from time to time. My son has a favourite computer chair which is all shabby and messed up. I would love to get in there and “fix it” except in his eyes it is great and comfortable and perfect the way it is. He is such a kind and clever little boy who does his homework and keeps his room tidy. Leave his chair alone I instruct myself! Like your toilet roll cupboard friend I thank God for the insight. I enjoy a tidy home, my quality of life is better without clutter but there is room in my life for a “manky” chair! :)

    • Isn’t it true? Life is good when you’re organized, but life is great when your children are thoughtful, gracious and loving. :)

  2. This is so true. It was so hectic and I often felt overwhelmed raising my daughters wile working full time. Now that they are grown and pursuing their interests, goals and lives I miss them desperately. I also see children as a gift that we get to enjoy intensely for a short period of time and then we have to let them go. ~Thea

    • I agree Thea! I try to remember everyday (through all the chaos!) to treasure them like crazy because they will only be little for a bit!
